Queen’s Birthday

Monday, June 14th was a national holiday here in Anguilla – the Queen’s Birthday. It is a British territory if you recall. Most businesses were closed today. They also have a boat race on Crocus Bay. However, there isn’t really much to see except for the boats to leave and when they cross the finish line. They are out of sight for most of the race. The rest of the time families are playing in the water, eating, and drinking, lots and lots (the air reeked of alcohol). We spent most of the day on Shoal Bay East beach and then stopped by Crocus Bay in the evening just as the race was finishing. We missed the actual winner cross the finish line, but it was neat seeing all the boats and seeing a brief piece of this wonderful island.
